Hundreds of fans gathered in Leicester Square, braving chill temperatures to catch a glimpse of the celebrities attending the glittering UK premiere of 'The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers'.
Among the film's stars strolling the red carpet was actress Liv Tyler who was greeted by whoops and screams from fans as she entered the cinema.
Tyler, who plays the elf princess Arwen in the film, traded in the sexy form-fitting dress she wore at Tuesday's Paris premiere for a black Stella McCartney satin trouser suit.
Actress Cate Blanchett , who plays Galadriel showed up in a white Versace halter dress and a white cashmere coat.
Blanchett praised the screaming fans: 'It's like a football crowd outside', she told Sky TV.
Also attending the screening were actors Dominic Monaghan and Sean Astin and director Peter Jackson . Notably absent were actor Elijah Wood , who plays hero Frodo Baggins, and Christopher Lee , who plays the evil wizard Saruman.
The release of the second film in the trilogy of author J.R.R. Tolkien's classic fantasy tale of Middle Earth has the film's cast criss-crossing the globe in exhausting back-to-back premieres.
The film, part of the $300 million trilogy Jackson filmed in his native New Zealand, has already been screened in New York and Paris, with additional premieres set for Copenhagen, Los Angeles, Wellington and Sydney.
The movie opens around the UK and the US on December
18.
