Epic 'The Gangs of New York', and drama 'The Hours'
followed 'Chicago' with 10 and 9 nominations, respectively,
also including best film.
Joining those three movies on the list of best motion
picture nominees were action thriller 'The Lord of
the Rings: The Two Towers' and Holocaust drama 'The
Pianist'.
The Oscars are given out each year by the Academy
of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. This year they
will be awarded this year on Sunday, March 23, in
a ceremony broadcast live on television from Los Angeles.
