The Lions Gate project is described by its producers
as an eerie tale of murder, obsession, intrigue and
Hollywood folklore.
It plots around a young 'bagger' for the Los Angeles
Coroner's Office who finds striking similarities between
the murder of a young woman and the notorious 1947
Black Dahlia case that has riveted the public imagination
for decades.
To say nothing of writers like James Ellroy (it was
his mother who was the murder victim. And Micahel
Connelly who used a similar motif in his Harry Bosch
series.
'This project is a passion of mine, and finding a
joint that digs atypical material isn't easy,' Ridley
said.
Ridley's screenwriting credits include 'Three Kings'
and 'Undercover Brother,' and he is also an executive
producer on UPN's hip-hop series 'Platinum.' Lions
Gate is eyeing a 2004 release.
