Having stepped out of his usual comedic mould to star
in Paul Thomas Anderson's 'Punch-Drunk Love' last
year, he's now looking to mainline with the top gun!
On Wednesday night, Sandler was scheduled to meet
with filmmaker Michael Mann to discuss the possibility
of starring opposite Tom Cruise in the director's
'Collateral' for DreamWorks.
If he joins the project, Sandler would play Max, the
meek cab driver who picks up a passenger (Cruise)
who takes him hostage and then goes on a killing rampage.
Mann is one of Hollywood's most renowned "arty" director/writer
with good box office. He's known for a slew of critically
acclaimed and box-office hit movies like 'Manhunter',
'Heat, 'The Insider', and 'Ali'.
Cruise's next flick out in 'The Last Samurai' realesed
in the US Dec 5, 2003. While Sandler co-stars with
Jack Nicholson in 'Anger Management' out in the UK
this Friday.
