'BLACK CLOUD' GATHERS FOR RICK SCHRODER'S DIRECTING DEBUT

Former 'NYPD Blue' star Rick Schroder is making his directorial debut with the feature film 'Black Cloud'.

Shroeder also wrote the boxing drama, which stars country singing sensation Tim McGraw in his big-screen acting debut.

'Cloud', currently shooting in Arizona, is an inspirational story about an American Indian boxer facing personal challenges as he comes to terms with his heritage while fighting his way to a spot on the U.S. Olympic boxing team. McGraw will play Sheriff Cliff Powers.

Russell Means, Wayne Knight and Peter Greene also star, with Native American newcomer Eddie Spears playing the title role of boxer Black Cloud.

High Maintenance Films and Old Post Films will produce the independent project with Schroder, who will also make a cameo appearance. McGraw will provide original songs for the soundtrack. Financing is coming from various Native American tribes, sources said.

Karen Beninati and David Moore of High Maintenance Films are producing alongside Schroder. The project reunites Beninati and Schroder, who worked together on the indie feature 'Poolhall Junkies.

'We are thrilled to be working with Schroder again and have extreme confidence he will undoubtedly helm this production with the vision and passion conveyed in his remarkable script', Beninati said.

.Black Cloud' is a realization of a dream', Schroder said. 'Many talented people have come together to make this possible. The Indian world we explore is fascinating'.

Added McGraw: 'This is going to be a lot of fun and a real challenge. I look forward to working with Rick and the great team he's put together'.
