CLIVE OWEN GETS ALL KINGLY AS ARTHUR

Disney's 'King Arthur', new take is set to star Clive Owen as the legendary magical monarch with a huge round table in his living hall.

The flick is said to offer a more historical take on the medieval legend.

Adding an international flavour to German-born Til Schweiger and Swede Stellan Skarsgard have signed on for roles in the Antoine Fuqua-directed feature. Schweiger will play Cynric, a chief Saxon lieutenant, while Skarsgard will play Cynric's father.

'Arthur' will focus on the history and politics of the period during which Arthur ruled -- when the Roman Empire collapsed and skirmishes over power broke out in outlying countries -- as opposed to the mystical elements of the tale on which past Arthur films have focused.

Schweiger, who can next be seen in the upcoming actioner 'Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life', has appeared in such films as 'Driven' and 'The Replacement Killers'.

Skarsgard, who most recently appeared in the controversial (code word for craperversial) Cannes entry 'Dogville', has also been seen in such films as 'City of Ghosts' and 'Dancer in the Dark'. He next appears in the thriller 'Exorcist: The Beginning'.

Fuqua is best known for directing Denzel Washington in 'Training Day'. Owen's credits include BMW's series of theatrical commercials including one with Madonna directed by Guy Ritchie.
