AFFLECK BENDS TOWARDS COMEDY IN TWO NEW MOVIES

Ben Affleck last conquered the box office as a crime-fighting superhero in 'Daredevil'. Now he's eyeing a pair of comedies -- 'Ghosts of Girlfriends Past' and 'Sex Talk'.

Affleck is near a deal to star in Disney's 'Ghosts', pending the hiring of a director, and is attached to New Line's 'Sex Talk'. Neither project has been greenlighted yet, and it is possible Affleck could sign on to do both projects.

'Ghosts' is in the vein of 'A Christmas Carol', centres on a bachelor who goes to his younger brother's wedding, where he is visited by the ghosts of his past girlfriends.

'Sex Talk', centres on a sports reporter who finds popularity by applying sports terminology and strategy to solve the problems people have with their sex lives.

Affleck has four films on their way to cinemas this year. His next release is opposite his fiancee, Jennifer Lopez, in the Columbia Pictures drama 'Gigli', set for a US release July 30 (7 Nov in the UK). While Paramount Pictures' 'Paycheck', directed by John Woo, hits US cinemas on Christmas Day.

In February, Affleck again stars opposite Lopez in Miramax's 'Jersey Girl'. Scheduled for a November 2004 release is the DreamWorks comedy 'Surviving Christmas'.
