HOPE TRIUMPHS IN GETTING ROLE IN 'PROOF'
Having received critical acclaim for her starring turns in "American Splendor" and "The Secret Lives of Dentists", Hope Davis is joining Gwyneth Paltrow, Sir Anthony Hopkins and Jake Gyllenhaal in "Proof".
The drama is based on the Tony-winning play of the same name.
The Miramax project is about a young woman (Paltrow) taking care of her dying father (Hopkins), a brilliant but insane maths professor.
Davis will star as Claire, the cynical, all-business sister of Paltrow's character who returns to her hometown.
John Madden ("Shakespeare in Love") is directing the project. Writer/director Rebecca Miller ("Personal Velocity") rewrote the script from "Proof" playwright David Auburn's adaptation.
Davis' other recent credits include "About Schmidt" with Jack Nicholson and "Hearts in Atlantis", which also starred Hopkins.
