BUSY WILKINSON IS A BIG FAN OF INDIE WILDE REMAKE
|
|
Oscar/Emmy-nominated English actor Tom Wilkinson has joined Helen Hunt and Scarlett Johansson in "A Good Woman".
|
The indie feature is "inspired" (i.e. rips off! Ed.) by the Oscar Wilde play "Lady Windermere's Fan".
Hunt will play a seductress who steals the husband of a younger woman (Johansson). Wilkinson plays Tuppy, a heavyset British socialite who falls for Hunt's character and provides comic relief in the film.
Production begins next month in Italy with Michael Barker at the helm.
Following "Woman," Wilkinson will segue immediately into the indie feature "Piccadilly Jim" for helmer John McKay. He also is shooting "A Way Through the Woods," which marks the feature directorial debut of Oscar-winning "Gosford Park" screenwriter Julian Fellowes.
Upcoming projects for Wilkinson, who was nominated for an Academy Award last year for "In the Bedroom," include "Girl With a Pearl Earring," "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" and "Compleat Female Stage Beauty".
Wilkinson most recently starred as a transsexual in HBO's "Normal," a role that earned him an Emmy nomination. The 55th annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be broadcast Sunday.
