CAMERON DIAZ TO BE PLAYBOY BUNNY GIRL
|
|
Cameron Diaz went to court to keep topless pics of herself from coming out.
|
Now she's taken on the role of a Playboy centerfold
who competes in one of the most grueling adventure race
reality shows on television, reports Variety.
X-Girls, from 20th Century Fox, will feature a trio
of Playboy bunnies who compete in the Eco-Challenge.
The script is being penned by Mark Steilen, whose wife
was an eco-challenger.
Created by Survivor's Mark Burnett in 1992, Eco-Challenge
generally features brawny types who can survive on little
more than beef jerky and rain water.
Teams of four are dropped off in the jungles of far-flung
locales, such as Borneo, New Zealand and Fiji, where
they race to complete a punishing 300-mile trek in six
to 12 days over rugged terrain.
The Team Playboy X-treme, accompanied by one male teammate,
became the first female-dominated team to finish the
race during the 2001 Borneo Challenge. The flick, described
as a female-empowerment comedy, follows the women as
they overcome seemingly impossible odds and challenge
people's preconceptions.
That makes Diaz one busy lady in 2004. First comes the
release of 'Shrek 2' on May 21. She's also scheduled
to star in the theatrical adaptation of 'In Her Shoes',
followed by a role opposite Jim Carrey in the remake
of 'Fun with Dick and Jane'.
Diaz is also attached to the World War II drama 'W.A.S.P.S.',
centering on the first female pilots who joined the
military after the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
As for her real-life battle to ban her boobs from appearing
on the pages of Playboy or any other publication--fans
are more likely to see skin on the big screen than splashed
across a centerfold any time soon.
The pics have been sealed and the photographer who snapped
the steamy shots faces up to six years in prison on
charges of attempted extortion, attempted grand theft
and perjury, as well as two counts of forgery. He's
currently free on $250,000 bail while he awaits trial.
