Another
adaptation of the Isaac Asimov short-story I, Robot.
The story of a detective investigating the murder of
a scientist in a compound. As the detective begins to
search the compound he learns that some of the 'scientists'
are actually complex computers with deceptive hologram
capabilities. Jeff Vintar wrote the spec script 'Hardwired'
that Touchstone initially purchased. Alex Proyas (The
Crow) will direct the film |
'I,
Robot' has been made many. many times. It's just that
they were all uncredited rips or, at least, inspired
bys.
INTERESTING FACTS
1. Respected fellow sci-fi author Harlan Ellison completed
his screenplay adaptation of Isaac Asimov's collected
robot series, I, Robot, in 1978. Almost a decade later,
with the screenplay still unfilmed, Ellison and Asimov
agreed to serialize it in the pages of Isaac Asimov's
Science Fiction Magazine. It ran in three issues in
late 1987. Asimov wrote a foreword that accompanied
the first part of the serialization. I have no idea
how much influence this has over Vintar's screenplay |
