Based
upon the tenth novel in the Master and Commander series
by Patrick O'Brian. Incorporates elements from all 20
in the series set during the early 19th century Napoleonic
Wars, following the high seas adventures of Captain
Jack Aubrey and his ship surgeon Stephen Maturin (also
a spy). The plot has been changed from the 1812 war
between Britain and the US, in which the Brits are trying
to sink the pride of the US fleet. Instead the year
is now 1805 and the enemy is the far more agreeable
French!! (Agreeable as a foe, that is!) If this first
film is successful, it could easily become the first
in a long series of adaptations. |

The
Crowster goes all Brit in an exciting adventure of daring-do.
The idea is to do a bit of a franchise if this takes
off in the box office. Needs a smattering of sex though
to get those randy 16-24 year old male demographics
on movie seats - and I don't see ANY female names in
the cast list. Should have gone more for an 18/19th
Century Commander Bond methinks. |
