Comedy is about two guys who decide to rig the Special Olympics to pay off a debt by having one of them, Steve (Knoxville), pose as a contestant in the games, hoping to dethrone reigning champion, Jimmy. Mentally-challenged high jinks and hilarity surely follow. |
Oh this sounds so so "funny." Let's be kind and assume that this does not mock people with disabilities - and that they end up as the heroes.
Since my initial skepticism, Rick Albert (a special Olympics coach from MN) writes to me that the recent edition of "Forerunner" the special Olympic magazine, endorsed this movie wholeheartedly. It reported that 150 special Olympic athletes were used and that several of the main actors were intellectually disabled.
